the science of walking.
earlier this week i was heading for the subway at dundas station, making my way back to union in a hurry trying to get to work on time. i stepped onto the escalator going up and, trying to make the most of it, i began to walk up the stairs. my boot fumbled between two steps and i found myself face planting on the escalator - luckily the only way i could possibly go was up :) in true abby style, i got up as quickly as i could and walked it off. i think i heard somewhere in the distance behind me someone cry 'are you okay??' but i was walking too quickly away from the scene of the accident to realize the question was directed at me...or rather my quickly disappearing figure. incident #1 that left me with two bruises on my left shin - wonderful.
this morning i was at church and i went down the stairs to the coat rack to hang up my coat. i was successful and followed my brother up the stairs as he headed back into the main sanctuary. as i walked up the stairs my eye caught the pastor's eye, he opened his mouth and a 'good morning' came out. just as i smiled and began my response 'goo-..' i felt the heel of my boot twist to the right and i knew i was going down but was helpless to stop it. i felt like a large tower going down - you know it's happening but can do nothing to prevent it from happening. so i just had to let myself fall, and again, quickly get right back up before laughing it off and properly greeting the pastor for the morning. as far as i can tell, no bruises from this one. luckily for me the stairs were carpeted.
the adventures of abby continue...more to come as events occur.
